Assalammualaikum.

As soon as I entered the class, I can feel that Miss Zu was in a bad mood. The class was start with the presentation of other group. At first,Miss Zu was getting mad because of our sentence structure again. "Your grammar is suck!" Miss Zu said to all of us. Yes we admit that because Miss Zu still need to correct our grammatical error and sentence structure.

After argumentative essay group present, Miss Zu was not angry anymore because she said their thesis statement had been improved. I'm glad to hear that. All of their thesis statement had been approved by Miss Zu. There are only two group that Miss Zu rejected and another one group have not present it yet. After this we are going to do outlining and I hope all of us can do it.

This is my thesis statement that had been approved by Miss Zu :

"When trying to decide which methods offers the best deals between online shopping and traditional shopping, the shopper should consider several aspect that present the best service. Some of these aspect include the variety of items, the convenience offered and the type of products."

Assalammualaikum.

Today Miss Zu were not entered the class. So, Miss Zu want us to do discussion about thesis statement  at the library. I need to help wasim and Izat for their thesis statement because we are doing the same type of essay. I'm just told him what should he do and asked him to followed the example from textbook. We are very lucky because our type of essay had an example for thesis statement from the textbook.So, it's quite easy.

I'm also helped Ika and Fatin to do their thesis statement. I'm not that good, but I try to helped them. Hopefully Miss Zu will approve it. That's all bye !

Presentation for thesis statement& introduction.

Assalammualaikum.

Today we are going to present a thesis statement and introduction. The first partner that present is Faiz adha and Fikri. We all are scared to do presentation because Miss Zu said, she will crush our heart. Miss Zu was complained about their thesis statement and she was reject it

After Faiz and Fikri present, Miss Zu want them to called a name. The second partner is Salihin and Faiz, their topics about corruption. Their introduction was so long. It's make me more nervous because my thesis statement is short and simple. But, Miss Zu was very angry at them because she know straight away that Salihin and Faiz just copied from their material. However, their thesis statement was good and just need to change a little bit. So, their thesis statement was accepted.

The third partner should be Acap and Nawi, but they still not done with their thesis statement. So, the next partner is Kima, Izani and Pika. And again Miss Zu getting mad because they also do plagiarism. After that, Fatin and Ika present. Miss Zu also rejected their thesis statement because their thesis statement is not like she expecting. Then its my turn. Thank god Miss Zu was accepted our thesis statement. Yeayy! Diba and I was so happy. We thought Miss Zu will get angry because our thesis statement was too simple. But we are wrong, because she said our thesis statement is good and there is no grammatical error. hehe *give an applause.*

Then, Bariah and Inayah present and follow by Nina and Wawa. Both of their thesis statement have been accepted. Actually, Miss Zu more focus on thesis statement. So,I think we should do a good thesis statement  first. That's all I want to share with you all. Tomorrow Miss Zu do not enter the class and yet we still need to go library for doing blogging.

Introductory paragraph.

Assalammualaikum.

Today our lesson was continued from yesterday which is introductory paragaraph. Miss Zu was explained on how to make our introduction become interesting for the readers. The part of introductory paragraph should have 

• The hook - designed to grab attention of the readers immediately.
• The transition- moves the readers from the hook to the driving force of the essay.
• Thesis statement- main ideas of the whole paragraph.

We must follow this step to make sure your introduction is clear and interesting. Besides, there are seven type of hook that we can used to make an introduction which is

• Personal example/observation
• quotation
• Facts/ statistic
• Rhetorical question
• current events 
• contrast to the thesis statement
• Definition

So, to make an introduction you must write the hook first and then the transition. Lastly, you must write the thesis statement. You also can put more than one hook to the introduction to catch the attention of your readers. I think it will much better. Up till here my friends. Bye !

Thesis statement for the outlining.

I just don't want to delay my work, so everytime I had a class bel I will update blog. It's going to be very busy since this month I will have a test and also a lot of assignment. So, don't procrastinate ! Okay, back to the topics today our lesson about how to write thesis statement for outlining.

Miss Zu was explained to us how to identified and write thesis statement. She was explained one by one based on type of essay. My type of essay is compare and contrast, so we pay attention during the lecture. Eventhough, my type of essay compare-contrast, I still need to know other type of essay. This to make sure, during examination everyone can answer correctly because we don't know what type of essay will come out.

For compare-contrast essay, there are 2 example that we can use.

EXAMPLE 1

 Introduction stating the thesis statement:

Public universities and private universities are different in term of the type of courses offered and the course fees charged but are similar in term of the nature of competitiveness.

supporting point 1, with topic sentence:

supporting point 2, with topic sentence:

supporting point 3, with topic sentence:

nature of competitiveness

Conclusion summarising the main idea or restating the thesis statement:

In conclusion, it falls upon the student to compare the similarities and differences between public universitiy and a private universitiy before deciding which one to go.

EXAMPLE 2

Introduction stating the thesis statement:

When trying to decide where to dine, either at local restaurant or Western restaurant, patrons should consider several aspect that concern these dining places.Some of these aspect include the food selection, the service provided and the ambience of each restaurant.

Thus, in order to decide whether to dine at at a local restaurant or at a Western restaurant factors such as the food selection, the service provided and the ambience of the restaurant should be taken into consideration.

Miss Zu want us to write a thesis statement based on these 2 example and we are going to present next week on tuesday. Monday we don't have a class because Miss Zu are going to invigilate an examination for degree students. So, we have a lot of time to do the thesis statement. But, Miss Zu said, "more times means more pressure". Hope we can do better and Miss Zu not reject our thesis statement. Good luck friends! bye :)

Debate contest.

Assalammualaikum.

"Is it consider cheating when your partner (girlfriend/ boyfriend/ husband/ wife) was checking on other beautiful girls/ boys/ men / women on facebook like poking, liking and etc."

That was our title for debate today. Today Miss Zu want to do speaking practice, that's why she held a debate contest. Firstly, we were divided into 4 group and I was in a group 2. My members is Fikri, Wasim, Syafiqah, Hani, Kima and Nadia Salehin. Our group is opponent, whereas group 1 is government.

This is a few of our point :

• As a medium for a social networking. Nowadays, everyone has a social networking like facebook, twitter or Instagram. It is just a medium for us to make a new friend or even to keep in touch with our friend. So, we should become open minded.
• To contact with old friend and family that live far. In my opinion, it is not consider cheating if we are contact with our old friend or family that live far away to know their latest news.
• For run a business or event. For example, when a married person spend their time on facebook it doesn't means that they are cheating or flirting with other men/ women. Maybe, they run their business through facebook or to informed other people about their event.
• Poke, like and comment button. The button is already there on the facebook page. What is the purpose doing the button if we are not use it.
• a statement that are funny or interesting. Some people like or comment their status because they think it's funny or interesting. Not because of other intention.
• Relationship is based on trust. If we are trust and honest with each other, they will be no problem. 
• depends on our body language or intention.

In conclusion, Facebook is just a medium for a social networking. It's depends on our intention whether to use facebook page as medium to make a new friend, to run a business or just used facebook to cheat or flirt on girls/boys.

Government side.

The title for group 3 and 4 is: 

"Is it true that men are easy to work with and more creative than women especially when it involves group work?"

The government side said men are easy to work with and more creative than women in give an idea. Men also has stated in al-Quran that there are the leaders.

Whereas, opponent side said women are systematic, carefully and perfectly in doing their work. Women also  has become success than men. For example, Tan Sri Zety Aziz the leader of Bank Negara.

After done with debate contest, Miss Zu want us to decide which group is the winner and the best debator. The winner is my group. But, the best debator is Faiz Adha from group 1. While for group 3 and 4 they are no winner because the point is equal. The best debator is Rozita from opponent side. That's all our lesson for today. Bye !

Assalammualaikum.

Today we are only doing blogging. As usual every wednesday is time for Miss Zu to check our blog. I had done my entry for yesterday, so there is no much work for me to do. After miss Zu check my blog, then I edit a few part that needed to add up some information. Today Miss Zu want us to comment our friend blog. But, we must comment something that contrasting, not to critics or make them feel down. We must motivated them to write better. Some of my classmate comment on my topics and shared their idea, same goes with me. That's all bye :) 

Facts and opinion.

Assalammualaikum.

Today Miss Zu want to check our blog whether  we are doing the correct things or not. Miss Zu was choose Nadia's blog. She was not satisfied with Nadia's blog because it's too short and the content was not like she expecting. Actually, we should written in blog whatever activity and lesson that we had learnt. We should put  picture, link or even a video.

Then Miss Zu continued with lesson today. We learnt about facts and opinion. I think fact and opinion is much easier. Fact is a specific detail that can be proven as true based on objective evidence. Whereas, Opinion is a feeling of judgement, belief or conclusion that cannot be proven true by evidence.  

Fact :

• objective
• state reality
• can verified
• presented with unbiased word

example :

• More women are deciding to give birth at home rather than giving birth in hospitals.
• Jenny is a girl with blue eyes and blonde hair.

Opinion :

• subjective
• interprets reality
• cannot be verified
• presented with value word

example :

•  I believe hospitals are the best places for giving birth./I don't think a hospital is the best place to give birth.
•  Jenny is pretty/ Jenny is ugly

We can also identified the opinion by the biased word. For example better, awful, disgusting, greater, best and so on is an example for biased words. After Miss zu explained and we done a few exercises, then we played a game. My group is number 2 and my members is Izat, Inayah, Nadia and Pika. We need to sell a product. Our product is beauty cream which is Safi Balqis Perfect 10. We need to come out with 5 statement whether it's fact or opinion. Then, our classmates need to guess how much is fact and opinion. Our group only score 2 mark. It was fun and I really enjoyed it because it's not boring.

Finding the main ideas.

Assalammualaikum.

Before start with the lesson, Miss Zu want us to do online asessment. We take a few minutes then start the lesson about finding the main ideas. It's quite difficult when the question give an unstated main ideas.That means we need to guess the hidden main ideas. We need to scanning and skimming first, then make a proper sentence. 

After Miss Zu explained and we do the exercises, I get a clear picture how to do it. Then, we are played a games about this topics. At first, our group got 2 mark then for the second and third games, we got zero. I'm very dissapointed because I want to give the best in everything I do. But, it's okay. It's just a game and we are enjoyed it. Up till here guys. Bye !

Summarising.

Assalammualaikum.

Happy New Year my friends! I'm hoping for 2013 with more happiness, laughness, success and we are never give up in our life. 

Okay straight to the point, today our class still proceed with the presentation about topics. Only Sara, Syafiqah, Hani and Zubaidah still not done yet. I feel pity towards them because their topics had been rejected again by Miss Zu. I hope this time, they can find the topics and Miss Zu approve it. 

After presentation,  we continue disscused with the homework that she gave yesterday. Then, we learnt a new thing today which is summarising. I was really like summarising during my secondary school because it is quite easy for me. However, summarising in secondary school and university is totally different. 

In summarising we need to remember the process by using "MIDAS Touch!"

M     main idea : identify main idea from topic sentence

I       Identify supporting detail

D     Disregard unimportant information

A     Analyze redundant information

S     Simplify, categorize and highlight important information

I will definitely remember this MIDAS because we have Midah in our class which is glamour name for Faiz, our class rep. Then, Miss Zu ask us to do exercise at page 30 in textbooks and we are going to disscus tomorrow. Today our class dismissed early than usual because Miss Zu have meeting. I'm going to grab a nasi kerabu! haha okay bye ;)

Paraphrasing.

Assalammualaikum.

Today our class still proceed with the presentation of topics. Then, Miss Zu taught us how to do paraphrasing. There are a few techniques to do paraphrasing which is synonyms, moving phrases, changing voices, changing part of speech and sentence combining. I think it quite tough because we need to know a lot of vocabulary. Miss Zu also showed us an example for these technique.

In addition, Miss Zu also gave us homework to do in a textbooks page 26 and 27. She also want us to do record of sources in a soft copy. We are going to discuss the homework tomorrow. That's all then class dismissed.
